fax, or e-mail. If you are an artist with a recording or know of other
recordings by Louisiana artists not listed here please contact us with
that information.
New releases of compact discs are available on their date
of release. Merchandise listed in our catalogue is kept in stock. Delivery
of goods can generally be made in one week. Please read the ordering and
shipping information prior to making your first order.
The Louisiana Music Factory opened its doors at 225 N.
Peters Street in March 1992 with a live in-store performance by Jazzman
Danny Barker and Rhythm and Blues great Tommy Ridgley. In August 1996 the
store moved to its current location at 210 Decatur Street with a performance
by Kermit Ruffins, the Treme Brass Band and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
member Dave Bartholomew with the Dave Bartholomew orchestra.
The tradition of live in-store performances was established
by Danny Barker who, when we started our business, wanted the store
to be known as the Jazz Place so he would come in on Saturday afternoons
and play with a trio or quintet. Since, we have been blessed with
literally hundreds of performances by local artists and visitors
alike including Snooks Eaglin, Dave Bartholomew, Chuck Carbo, Marcia
Ball, Irma Thomas, Gatemouth Brown, Kermit Ruffins, the Rebirth
Brass Band, Treme Brass Band, Eddie Bo and numerous others. Check
out our photo gallery to see photos of many of these performances.
Partners Barry M. Smith and Jerry W. Brock began the Louisiana
Music Factory in February of 1992. It was their belief then, and now, that
there needs to be a record store, which specializes, in regional music,
i.e., the music of New Orleans and Louisiana. So far we've been proven
correct. The customer response has allowed the store to grow significantly
and we thank all of our customers from around the world.
The Louisiana Music Factory is open everyday, seven days
a week, 10am - 7pm Mon - Sat, Noon-6pm Sun; except for Mardi Gras,
Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Please stop by the store anytime you
are in our area.
