NOTES:
The Untold Story of Shreveport Soul
Sound City issued some outstanding discs on Alarm Records from 1973 to 1978 and the label is considered to have been one of the last important outlets of southern soul. Alarm struggled in the shadows of bigger operators such as Malaco but deserved credit for at least attempting to keep alive the flame which had burned for labels such as Stax, Goldwax, Fame, Hi and others. The company made an important contribution to the history of southern soul music in its final days.
