NOTES: In the 1940's and 50's many Cajuns from Church Point area moved to East Texas. Dancehalls featuring Cajun dance bands sprang up all over East Texas - the B.O. Sparkle Club in Bridge City, Club 73 in Winnie, The Blue Jean Club in Nederland, and the Rodair Club in Port Arthur to name a few. The Rodair club still had Cajun dances every Saturday night until May 15, 2004, the last dance at the historic Rodair Club. The Rodair was truly one of the last of the old-time Cajun dancehalls. The music on this CD was recorded at the Rodair in 1987. Hopefully this CD will give the listener just a little taste and feel of the heyday of the East Texas dancehall scene. All of the selections are dancehall standards which are still played over and over again every saturday night in the few remaining dancehalls still to be found in South Louisiana and Texas.
