Notes

Following the end of World War II, there was renewed interest in Cajun music in southwest Louisiana. This interest resulted in juke box operators, radio stations, and the public demanding records. Lake Charles record store owner George Khoury saw an opportunity to become a record producer to meet the growing demand. Beginning in the late 1940s and continuing into the early 1960s, Khoury produced recordings by local Cajun musicians such as Nathan Abshire and his Pine Grove Five, Lawrence Walker, and Elise Deshotel. Several recordings by Abshire and Deshotel feature a young Dewey Balfa on fiddle. This is a companion recording to Cajun Honky Tonk: The Khoury Collection, Volume 1.
