On ‘A Study in Unknowing,’ Los Angeles-based, New Orleans-bred keyboardist and producer Ben Alleman showcases the breathtaking piano skills that have made him a sought-after recording collaborator, from Madi Diaz to Corey Harper to Sean McConnell. For the first time, Alleman applies his talents to a solo record, crafting an album that explores the concept of composed improvisation, drawing inspiration from places, people, and memories.

With the collaboration of esteemed musicians including Sebastian Steinberg, Anna Butterss, Dylan Day, Matt Musty, Joe Harrison, and Parker McAnnally, Alleman delivers a deeply emotional musical journey, blending natural, affected, and modern sounds.

An artist who has toured with luminaries ranging from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Dr. John to Social Distortion, Jenny Lewis, Grace Potter, and Betty Who, Alleman has also collaborated with icons such as Don Was, Willie Nelson, and John Medeski.
