Notes

His new album is all about soul music, with quite some blues influences every now and then through his guitar playing. The influence of Bobby Womack is audibly high with Mr. Sipp.

The light-hearted Grown And Sexy opens the album. Mr. sir. Sipp already warns us..ain’t no drummer in here.” Fortunately, the life-lived soulful vocals make Mr. Sipp a lot of good.

The atmosphere is often very sultry and erotic. For example, in the lone ballad Let Me Love You, with guest vocals by Keneisha Fairley, which sounds quite yearning. Played Yourself is clearly influenced by Bobby Womack. A warm soul number with passionate vocals. This song will come back later in a remix that is superfluous to me. Come On Over sounds quite sultry too. Get Right Man is a funky answer to Betty Wright’s Clean Up Woman. Bonnet On mixes soul with “modern” r & b.

Trail Ride is totally off the boat on this album. In this number, Mr. Sipp on the electro-dance tour in a very mechanical way but again with dance instructions.

If you are a big fan of Bobby Womack, I can make this album of Mr. Womack. Sipp wholeheartedly recommend it.
